Site surveys
The site survey phase is vitally important to help us develop a good understanding of the site activities and to ensure that the installation phase can be completed with the minimum of interruption.
Initially we will carry out a desktop survey and have a conversation to confirm the potential viability of your project. We will review existing data and information about the site – size, processes used, energy spend, bill information, types of meters, who is responsible for the energy management, the organisation's energy management strategy, savings targets, any other planned changes related to energy usage. etc
Following this we will carry out a site survey, analysing and evaluating the site and premises for an energy monitoring and targeting system. The site survey phase is vitally important to help us develop a good understanding of the site activities and to ensure that the installation phase can be completed with the minimum of interruption.
Some aspects to consider during the site survey include:
• Site layout and size
• Type of buildings
• Existing meters and locations
• Work patterns and trends
• Site review for wireless coverage
• Type of power supply and power supply availability
• Route for network and power cabling
• Location of switch rooms etc.
• How existing systems may be integrated into a new system
• Types of cable and connectors required
• Existence and location of network points
• Site access and access to various locations on site
• The need for any special access equipment, eg: to enable antenna installation
• Need for any special brackets or metalwork for the satisfactory completion of the work
• Availability of customer's engineering staff for certain aspects of the work
• Availability of IT staff - Network Management – interfacing to existing network
• Assessment of the potential impact of the proposed system on any existing system
All site surveys are carried out by experienced staff who will look at every aspect of the site activities and energy usage and how they inter-relate. Photographs are typically taken during the site survey to support future recommendations and clarify any obvious queries or issues.
Workshops
We run a range of workshops for small groups wishing to expand their understanding of energy monitoring and targeting. Find one to suit you.
