Testimonials

"Very professional service from start to finish. Installation team received excellent review from site foreman. Would not hesitate in re-using HES or recommending to friend/collegue/client."

- John Kane (Senior Energy Manager, Dalkia Ireland)

"I can see at a glance every day if there has been a problem with the plant."

- Kenny Russell (Facilities Manager, Seagoe Technologies)

“The system allows instant access to quality data, allowing you to make informed management decisions – about production methods and financial strategy as well as for straightforward monitoring of energy usage."

- Graeme Scott (General Manager, Seagoe Technologies)

“On receipt of the Green Hospitality Eco Award I was delighted that Hughes Energy Systems brought
forward an energy targeting and monitoring system that will help us to manage our energy more efficiently at the Slieve Donard Resort & Spa. This will help us identify more areas of energy efficiency savings in our property thus making us more sustainable in terms of a business as well as enforcing our
commitment to reducing our carbon emissions thus protecting our environment.”

- Ciaran Murtagh (Deputy General Manager, Slieve Donard Resort & Spa)

Sectors summary

Retail:

A Belfast car retailer made savings of 55% on lighting costs after identifying the wastage using an energy monitoring and targeting system. These savings were identified just weeks after installation was complete last year. Further savings opportunities have since been identified and savings in the first year were estimated to be in the region of £30,000. The system has since been expanded to include other sites.

Manufacturing:

Seagoe Technologies in Portadown made a quick return on their investment when they made a small change to part of their manufacturing process that resulted in a 50% reduction in gas consumption. Seagoe Technologies also made savings on their electricity and water consumption and continue to use the system to manage their energy, identify new areas for improvement and maintain good efficiency levels. 'I can see every day at a glance if there has been a problem with the plant.' - Kenny Russell (Facilities Manager, Seagoe Technologies.

Bombardier Aerospace are also currently identifying areas for improved energy efficiency through the use of their newly installed M&T system.

Hospitality:

The Slieve Donard Resort & Spa have already highlighted areas for investigation following the completion of their M&T installation last month. Information gathered by the system suggests that savings of 10% or more are achievable in these areas. When they become more familiar with the software they expect to find and target other areas of improvement. A similar system is currently being commissioned at the Europa Hotel. 'This will help us identify more areas of energy efficiency savings in our property thus making us more sustainable in terms of a business as well as enforcing our commitment to reducing our carbon emissions thus protecting our environment.' - Ciaran Murtagh (Deputy General Manager, Slieve Donard Resort & Spa)

Education:

University of Ulster have an extensive system across all the university campuses. Various efficiency measures have been implemented since the initial M&T installation was completed last year. Small changes have allowed for good savings to be made on gas used for heating and electricity used to run IT equipment.

Queens University Belfast also have an extensive M&T system.

Public Sector:

Derry City Council monitor the energy usage in 10 buildings that were initially identified as
being their highest energy users. They expect the M&T system to provide a payback within 2-3 years after implementing a number of efficiency drives. 'One issue in particular related to a BMS (building management system) control problem which allowed the boiler plant in the main civic offices to operate during unoccupied night time periods to provide heat for air handling plant and domestic hot water. Reprogramming the control strategy is scheduled to be completed shortly and will save on average 15-20% in fuel consumption.' - Leo Strawbridge (Energy Manager, Derry City Council)

Other sectors with M&T systems installed by Hughes Energy Systems include:
